shannon has been slaving away in the kitchen for two days to make dinner tonight for the house and a few guests...looking forward to it. seems like a good kick-off to the weekend....super-bowl weekend!!!
Lora just came up and stroked my hair while I was sitting here wondering what to blog about. I was struck the immediate realization that I liked being touched, and for some time now I've been lacking physical touch. Why is it that I feel dirty even saying that out loud? Why is it that physical is always, or frequently, associated with sexual touch? thats not what I'm talkin' about. I mean hugs, strokes, touches, kisses--without the awkwardness of whether it is appropriate or a social norm.
I don't touch others much any more and assume that subconsciously (maybe consciously)people are aware of that and therefore reciprocate accordingly? maybe that's it. Maybe we're ALL too uptight and should just break free of touch standards and just do it. We need it. I need it. Jesus did it...He obviously needed it and encouraged it.
I grew up in a family where you hugged--I've always had friends in my past that've hugged--when did it change? One would think, especially in my predominately Christian environment, that hugs would be a rule as opposed to the exception...I don't really know why I would assume that but it seems like it should be that way.
I don't really know my point for even blogging this statement other than to say that I like touch and think that I may make a late addition to my "new years resolutions for 2004".

Shannon, Derek and Amy are all now back in austin. I found a temporary job in a deli until I can find something better, I also joined a gym up the street-- it has a pool, hottub and sauna, and is only $20 a month! Today was cleaning day in the house, and tonight is the "Golden Globe" party in the 38th st. crazy house. Thats the update.
